Golf Program 2026
Darrell Bourke looking quite content after an excellent game of 40 points to win A Grade
Central West Vets golf report for game played at Bathurst December 15
Hi everyone,
Today’s golf game at Bathurst marked the last game of Central West vets’ golf for 2025 and what a year it was. It exceeded all our expectations, including the 139 players that took part in today’s game which was a record of players of any previous Central West vets’ games.
The innovation of self-tee time booking by our website for the smaller clubs and the introduction of the ultimate golf challenge at Wellington, Canowindra and Molong not only provided substantial financial assistance to the participating clubs, but it also enhanced the profile of vets’ golf in our district which resulted in increased memberships and attendance to all our games.
To all our members, give yourselves a clap. You deserve it for the way you have supported Vets golf in 2025. We look forward to seeing all of you in 2026. First game January 12 at Oberon.
On to results.
It was a perfect day for golf very much enjoyed by all according to the scores. You needed 35 points and a good countback just to get a ball.
The winner in A grade was Darrell Bourke with 40 points that included 4 birdies. A very impressive score considering that Darrell plays of a 5 handicap.
A countback was needed to decide second place when David Harvey and Garry Lake both returned scores of 39 points. David got the nod from the scores to win the ham with a better back nine.
In B Grade the winner was Tony Gassman with an excellent score of 40 points, two solid nines of 20 points each. Peter Reddan was the second-place winner with 38 points.
A three-way countback was required to decide first and second place in the ladies’ comp when Coral Britt, Sue Gander and Robyn Forrester all returned scores of 38 points. Coral was the clear winner with 20 points on the back nine, but the computer had to work overtime to decide second place which was given to Sue because of a better score in the last three holes. Robyn played a great game but had to settle for a ball in the ball sweep.
