Central West Vets Championships results for 2025
Secretary’s Annual General Meeting report for 2025
It is with great pleasure that I present secretary report for 2025 to members of the Central West Veterans G.A.
It has been a magnificent year of vets’ golf on the Central West as you will read from the reports, from other members of the executives. Participation to all our games is up from 2024. Income is up and even the weather was kind to us with only one game cancelled because of rain.
Our communication system of golf reports by email which are sent to over 250 present and old members and our website www.cwvetsgolf.com has kept everyone informed of our activities.
The introduction of self tee time bookings by our website for the smaller clubs has been very well supported by all members. We no longer have to hang around waiting for a start or look for other members to form a team. The clubs have also benefit by knowing before the game how many players to cater for on the day.
The Ultimate Golf Challenge has been a pet of mine for a year or two and I was very pleased that after a long negotiation with the NSW Vets association we were able to get a grant of $750 to get it of the ground. We have added $350 of our own funds to create a prizes pool of $1,100 which is the biggest in vets golf in New South Wales.
The aim of the tournament was to increase vets’ participation in the smaller clubs. This year we have targeted Wellington, Canowindra and Molong. Next year will be Oberon and Blayney’s turn.
The tournament has been a great success with record numbers playing at Wellington and Canowindra which I am sure will be repeated when we play Molong on November 24.
Finally, the success of any association is determined by the support of its members, the strength of its club delegates and the executive committee. With that in mind, I must thank President John Cowell for keeping a steady ship during the year and looking after the winning vouchers. Treasurer David Gates for looking after the finances and reporting a substantial profit for the year and Captain David Agst for making sure we collected the balls from the ball sweep if we were lucky enough to win one and to all the club delegates for ensuring that the golf courses were available for us whenever we visited them and finally to you as members for your continuous support.
Regards,
Manuel Pro
