Central West vets golf report for Oberon October 13
Hi everyone,
I will start the report by mentioning how magnificent the Oberon golf course was today. Club management, the course staff and all the volunteers must be commended for the way that the course was presented. It is hard to believe the changes that had been made to the course since we were there in July. The strategic removal of some trees had made the fairways look much wider than previously and there was enough grass on the fairways to ensure that good fairway shots stayed on the fairways and not roll into the rough.
The greens had been recently cored which made them slower than usual making it easier to score well if you were able to get the ball to the hole.
Good fairways and slow greens make a good recipe for good scores and so it was today.
All of today’s winners played well above their handicap.
The best in A grade was Graeme Walker with an excellent score of 40 points. Second in A grade was Peter Moad with 38 points.
The B grade winner was Jerremy Tadman with 40 points and second place went to Peter warren with 39 points.
The ladies’ winner Jan Moad with 39 points
The ball sweep went down to 33 points. Nearest to the pin markers were not available.
