Central West vets socialising after the game at Canowindra
Central West Vets golf report for game played at Canowindra Monday September 15
Hi everyone
We had 59 players taking part in the game today which was the biggest field that I can remember at Canowindra.
A big thank you is warranted to all of you for supporting the new starting time booking system.
It made the organising of the game a lot easier for all concerned. Players were able to choose their starting time instead of having to cue up. And Canowindra’s wonderful group of helpers knew well ahead how many players to cater for morning tea and lunch.
We will continue to use the same booking system when we play Oberon in October 13. I will be sending out a booking link after we play Bathurst next week.
Please let me know if you are having problems getting into the program by sending me a message on 0434 832 118 or an email at bathurstgolfvets@gmail.com
On to today’s results
As always Canowindra golf course is a very tough cookie to crack and once again very few of us were able to play to our handicap or better, in fact it was only two players who achieved that goal. However, we are getting better, a lot of us were able to get to the magic 30 points to get a ball in the ball sweep.
Best of all in A grade was Rodney Smith, but he didn’t have it all his own way, he had to survive a five-way count back when he, Jon Menton, Rodney O’Keefe, Barry Rue and Doug Flannery all had score of 34 points. Jon got the second spot by the skin of his teeth.
In B grade the clear winner was Terry Duff with 37 points and Alan Evans took out second place with 36 points.
There was also a countback necessary to decide the winner in the ladies’ comp when Helen Kemper and Laurell Gassman both had scores of 32 points. The better back nine by Helen got her first place with Laurell having to settle for a ball in the ball sweep

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays are the best days to call.
Until next time, may the Gods of golf be kind to you
