Hi everyone
The 2025 Central West vets’ championship was played over two 18 holes rounds at the Wentworth and Bathurst golf clubs. The championship was decided in A and B grades for men and Ladies competitions on the golf formats of stableford and stroke events
A grade handicap for men was 18 and under and in B grade was 19 and over. There were no handicap limits for the Ladies competitions.
On to results.
The winner in A grade in the stableford championship was Barry Rhodes from Wentworth playing on a handicap on 12 Barry had two very consistent rounds of 38 and 34 points for a total of 72 points. Second was David Parkes also from Wentworth with rounds of 35 and 33 points for a total of 68 points. Hot on his heels with totals of 67 points were David Harvey and David O’Brien.
In B grade the winner was Alan Josey from Wentworth with two rounds of 35 and 32 points for a total of 67 points. Second was Bill Wilcox from Oberon with rounds of 28 and 38 points for a total of 66 points
In the Ladies stableford the winner was Laurell Gassmann from Wentworth who showed a clean pair of heels to the rest of the field with rounds of 32 and 36 points for a total of 68 points Second was Janelle Moad from Wentworth with rounds of 34 and 28 points for a total of 62 points

Stroke (Gross) Championship
The winner in A grade was Darrell Bourke from Bathurst, playing of a handicap of 3, Darrell had rounds of 80 and 77 strokes for a total of 157 to win by 7 strokes from second place getter David Parkes from Wenworth. David had rounds of 81 and 83 strokes and was very consistent throughout the championships finishing also second in the stableford event.
The winner in B grade was Bill Wilcox from Oberon going one better than the second place he got in the stableford event to be declared the winner with rounds of 98 and 89 strokes for a total of 187. Second place went Mario Mastronardi from Wentworth with rounds of 98 and 97 strokes for a total of 195 strokes.
Laurell Gassmann added to her Stableford winning trophy by also winning the Ladies stroke event with very solid rounds of 97 and 95 strokes for a total of 192 strokes. Not far behind was once again Janelle Moad from Wentworth with rounds of 95 and 103 for a total of 198 strokes.

Congratulation to all the winners and to everyone else who were brave enough to play the second round at Bathurst in weather conditions more suitable for eskimos than golfers.
