Central West vets golf report for Canowindra and Round 2 of Ultimate golf Challenge

Hi everyone,

Some late withdrawals prevented a full field of players for round 2 of the Ultimate Golf Challenge held at Canowindra on Monday November 10. Just the same we still had a very good field of 68 players for the round which is the biggest field we have ever had at Canowindra.

More about the ultimate golf challenge later. The following are the results for today’s round.

The golf course was in excellent condition. The tees, the fairways and the greens could not have been any better which reflected on the scores with players needing 34 points or better just to get a ball on the ball sweep.

The best score of the day belong to Kim Gersback with a magnificent 42 points to win the ladies comp. Kim didn’t have it all her own way Anne Field was only one point away from a countback with a score of 41 points. Excellent golf ladies!!!

The A grade winner was decided on a countback when Doug Flannery and David O’Brien both returned scores of 41 points. Scorers gave Doug first place by the narrows of margins.

Another countback was also required to decide first place in B grade when Martin Everett and Brian Moon returned cards of 39 points. I have been told by the scorers that Martin got first place by the skin of his teeth. Brian had to settle for second spot.

The ball sweep went down to 34 points on a countback. No nearest to the pin were available.

Next round of Central West vets will be held at Wentworth on November 10 .

You will have to call the Proshop on 02 6361 4505 to book a starting time and cart if you need one.

Wentworth is not a round of the Ultimate Golf Challenge. The final round will be played at Molong on November 24
