Championships Round 1 played at Wentworth, May 19
Garry Kind got second place in B grade at Wentworth
Central West vets golf report for game played on Monday May 19
Hi everyone,
A very good field of 83 Central West veteran golfers had a round of golf at the Wentworth Golf club. We were cordially welcome to the golf course by Todd and Rickie in the Proshop and a nice cup of coffee and cakes on arrival.
Unfortunately, the weather let us know that winter was just around the conner providing strong winds and temperature that barely got above 13 degrees that made good scoring hard to come by. A nice lunch at the end of the game made up for our perils on the course.
On to results.
Today was the first round of our championships, a full report of the leaders in A grade, B grade and Ladies in stableford and stroke formats will be sent later in the week.
Today’s comp results.
The best in A grade was Fred Gander from Wentworth with an excellent scor3e of 39 points. Not far behind was Barry Rhodes also from Wentworth claiming second spot with 38 points.
In B grade, first place went David Fiels from Wentworth with 39 points. Second place went to Garry Kind from Wentworth with 38 points.
The best player in the Ladies’ comp was Jan Moad with also from Wentworth with 34 points.
The ball sweep went down to 31 points and the nearest to the pin winners, that we know of at time on this report, were David Naveau on the 5th and Fred Gander on the 6th. David Agst is chasing the other results and will add them to the ball sweep list.
Full list of results.
Next game of Central West vets will be at Molong on Monday May 26.
Molong is a walk up start so get there between 8:00 and 9:00am to get a game. If you have never played on sand greens before, give it a go and enjoy the challenge.
The club will love to have your support
Good golfing everyone
