Central West Vets enjoying lunch at Oberon Golf Club
Central West vets report for game played at Oberon Monday, January 12
Hi Everyone
Today was the best day that I can ever remember of having Central West vets at Oberon. I could really go on forever writing about everything that happened, but I can’t because tomorrow morning we are going to the South Coast for a few days and I haven’t started packing yet, so this report is going to be short.
· Today we had 82 vet golfers in the game. The biggest field ever for Oberon vets
· The course was in fantastic condition. Lots of run on the fairways and well-paced greens
· The cool weather was greatly welcome after last week’s heatwave
· Daryl Kelly and his team of workers were the perfect host
· The lunch was excellent. I would go there for lunch any day
· We had not one but two eagles during the game. Phil Reed eagled the 3rd and Darrell Bourke eagle the 10th from 110 meters out
On to the golf.
Today’s winner in A grade was Darrell Bourke with an excellent score of 41 points. Playing of a handicap off 3, Darrell shot 2 under for his round.
Second was Graham Walker with a score of 37 points.
There were countbacks everywhere in B grade when a handful of players finished their round with 35 points. Thankfully the computer done its work and decided that Alex Blackett should have 1st place, and David Campbell should come second.
The ladies’ winner was Robyn Slattery with 38 points
The ball sweep went down to 33 points on a countback and the nearest to the pin winners were Chris Hadson on the 1st, Graham Lee on the 7th, Manuel Pro on the 9th and Robert Jackson on the 17th
