Central West vets’ report for game played at Wellington July 27

Hi everyone

 A very good field of 60 Central West vets played a round of vets’ golf at the Wellington Golf Club.

The weather was a glorious winter’s day of 18 degrees that was brilliantly matched by the conditions of the golf course and the hospitality provided by Marie and her group of helpers. The players were welcome with a cup of tea or coffee and a very nice assortment of delicacies before the game and a nice lunch and desert at the end of the game.

By the way, if anyone ever tells you that the vets’ games are only played by a lot of old golfers that have seem better days on the golf course and are too slow, tell them this.

All groups today finished their game within 4 hours 10 minutes and almost half the field was made up of A grade players. Those who don’t play vets golf don’t know what they are missing

On to results.

The winner in A grade was Les Tremain from Yeoval with a score of 39 points. Les had to survive a countback before been declared the winner when Alan Evans from Molong also returned a score of 39.

In B grade the winner was Paul Cox from Duntry with 43 points which was also the best score of the day of any grade. Second place went Neale McCabe from Wellington with a very impressive score of 39 points.

The winner of the ladies’ comp was Judy Brewer with an excellent score of 38 points.

The ball sweep went down to 32 points and the nearest to the pin winners were Michael Koch on the 3rd, Eddy knight on the 8th and Darrell Bourke on the 16th.
