Central West vets enjoying lunch after the game at Wentworth Golf club
Central West vets report for game played at Wentworth Monday June1
Hi everyone
A very good field of 90 Central West vet golfers played the first round of the Championships at Wentworth golf course. Overcast skies and light showers were predicted by the weathermen but what we got was a beautiful sunny day to celebrate the first day of winter. It must have been third time lucky after having to postpone the game three times due to some horrible wet weather last month.
On to today’s comp results, I will send out another report with the stableford and stroke results of the first round of the championships later.
First in A grade today was Rodney Graham from Bathurst with a score of 35 points.
Second in A grade was Rodney O’Keefe from Wentworth with 34 points.
In B grade the winner was Bill Kirsop from Wentworth with 41 points which was the best score of any grade. Second was Martin Everett from Bathurst with 38 points on a countback from Glyn Samuel and Leon Roweth who also had 38 points.
In the Ladies’ comp Laurell Gassman from Wentworth took out first place with a score of 32 points. Sue Gander also from Wentworth was second with 31 points.
The ball sweep went down to 31 points and the nearest to the pin winners were Robert Clark on the 3rd, David Phillips on the 5th, Rodney O’Keefe on the 6th, Darrell Bourke on the 13th and Peter Laffey on the 17th
