Executive reports for 2023

Central West Districts Veteran Golf Association - Group 22 –

President’s Report.

It is hard to believe it is twelve months since I last reported on a year of golf enjoyed by our members. All things considered, we had a reasonably smooth and stress-free year even though some changes to our programme were unfortunately necessary.

The weather gods were very kind to us and only one game had to be cancelled.

For any organisation to function efficiently a reliable and dependable secretary is essential and we are truly fortunate to have Manuel Pro in that position. Manuel and I have a very good working relationship and I appreciate his tireless work. I would also like to thank our captain, David Agst for his support and commitment throughout the year. Our treasurer, Ian Kind must also be thanked for managing our banking and keeping our finances in check. The delegates from all the clubs participating in our itinerary, must be recognised and thanked for their ongoing support of our Central West vet’s golf games.

Our member-participation has dwindled slightly this year, but I am sure this will not continue. I ask all members to encourage any golfers, over fifty-five to join the Vets and have a hit on a Monday. I am sure they will enjoy the ‘banter’, the social interaction and the experience of playing on a number of different courses. Whilst on this topic, I am asking all members to please make the effort to support the smaller clubs on our itinerary. Remember they rely heavily on volunteers to function and make a big effort to look after us very well.

Finally, I would like to thank all members for their participation throughout the year. Without your continued support the Central West Districts Veterans Golf Association would cease to function.

I hope all members remain safe and enjoy good health throughout the coming year and continue to play this frustrating game – GOLF.

President 2023

Central West Vets Secretary’s AGM report for 2023

Hi everyone,

I am happy to report a very successful year of vets’ golf in the Central West for 2023.

In a year were we finally got rid of Covid restrictions and thankfully no major fire incidents, the weather was very kind to us and we were able to compete in 31 of the 32 games scheduled in the golf program. As you will see from the table below Mondays vet's game are not only a venue for CW vets to get together and enjoy a game of golf but also a vital opportunity for clubs to generate much needed income specially for the smaller clubs.

Last year’s innovation of our own www.cwvetsgolf.com website and the services of “mailchimp” as our email service provider, which unfortunately is no longer free of charge, are now well stablished as the results and reports communication channels.

In concluding, I would like to acknowledge John Cowell, David Agst, Ian Kind and all other club delegates for the work they put in throughout to ensure that all Central West veteran golfers can enjoy our wonderful game of vet’s golf on Mondays

Also, a big thank you to all Club Managers, Board members and course, bar, catering and proshop staff of participating host clubs for the wonderful support they have given us throughout 2022-23, it has been very much appreciated.

Good golfing everyone and may the Gods of Golf be kind to you.

Manuel Pro

Secretary

Treasurers Report Financial Year 2023.

The balance of the bank account at September 30, 2023 was $5879, a reduction of $1894 due to a number of factors.

Overall membership declined by $490. This was offset by an increase in Game Fees of $545 reflecting an increase in participation following the Covid years. That also increased the value of Prize Vouchers by $1022.

Other contributing factors involved the new emailing service fee of $24/month and a small increase in the stock of golf balls to take advantage of reductions in price by buying in volume.

The overall financial position with $5879 in liquid funds remains healthy and will enable the committee to continue to promote the objectives of the Vets, reflective in their increased participation in the golf programme. Obviously not now, but at some time in the future, the membership and game fees will need to be reviewed to maintain a good income versus expenses ratio.

The behind the scenes efforts by the Captain, President and Secretary are reflected in the continuing participation by members in good golf and good friendship throughout the year and our support of the smaller Clubs.

Regards

 Ian Kind
