Canowindra scorers enjoying lunch after completing competition results.

Central West vet’s game report for Canowindra Monday, August 28

Hi everyone,

A good field of 47 Central West vet’s golfers played a round of vet’s golf at Canowindra on Monday August 28 on a beautiful late winter day. The course was in excellent condition with a full cover of grass on the fairways that provided some run. However, the testing greens demanded a lot of concentration to score well.

As it is always the case at Canowindra, an excellent lunch after the game made up for our short comings on the course.

On to results.

Peter Laffey was the winner in A grade with a very good score of 34 points. A countback was required to determine second place when Peter Chaffey, Phillip Reed, and Gary Cornish all retuned scores of 33 points. The scorers had to work overtime before awarding second place to Gary Cornish by a small margin.

A three-way countback was also required to determine all the place getters in B grade when Ray Williamson, Leon Roweth and Bill Vaughan all return scores of 33 points. After some more overtime by the scorers, they declared Ray as the winner with Leon second and unfortunately for Bill he had to settle for a ball on the ball sweep.

The ball sweep went down to 26 points. There were not Nearest to the pin put out so we are giving out extra balls on the ball sweep

Next Central West Vets game will be at Wellington on Monday September 11.
