Central West Vets results for Blayney, May 1

Hi everyone,

A very good field of 51 exceptionally hardy Central West veteran golfers played a round on vets’ golf at Blayney golf course where they didn’t only have to overcome the challenges that Blayney always provides but also had to put up with an early taste of winter with weather that didn’t get above 10 degrees all day, and drizzling rain. Thankfully, we had no wind.

However, we were all bragging about being able to hit the ball out of sight because the fog was that thick that you couldn’t see any more than 50 meters in front of us.

As always, we all enjoyed ourselves with only one player not finishing his round.

As it generally happens at Blayney, the locals showed the visitors how to play the course by cleaning up the prizes in A grade with George Schymko claiming first place with an excellent 40 points and Terry Gallen coming second with 37 points.

Visitors squared up the account by winning first and second in B grade with Graeme Blair coming first with 28 points and Peter Gray second with 26 points both from Duntry golf club.

A countback was required in the ladies’ comp when Judith Brewer and Kay Kearney, both from Wentworth, had scores of 30 points. Judith was given first place by the smallest of margins.

The ball sweep went down to 25 points. We have added more balls to the ball sweep as there were not nearest to the pin markers put out.

Something for your dairy, with Duntry no longer available, these are the changes to the program.
