Central West vets golf report for game played at Bathurst July 24

Hi everyone,

A very good field of 98 Central West vet golfers took part in the final round of the Championships at the Bathurst golf club. The weather was perfect, the notorious Bathurst fog had a rest day which allowed the game to be played under clear blue skies with temperature reaching 16 degrees by mid-morning. I perfect day for golf.

On to the golf results. The Championships results will be sent at a later day once the results from the first and final rounds are compiled.

A birdie on the 18th hole help Peiter Buining win A grade with and excellent score of 39 points. A countback was required to decide second place when Maurice Ryan and David Nicholls both returned cards of 37 points. The computer gave Maurice second place by the nearest of margins.

Once again, the golf computer had to work overtime to decide the winners in B grade when Richard Ellis, Allan Orton, Brett Corby, Ian Crofts, and Geoff Marshall all returning cards of 37 points. When the dust settled Ian Crofts was declared the winner with Geoff Marshall in second place. Brett, Allan and Richard had to settle for a ball on the ball sweep.

The winner in the Ladies comp was Sue Vaughan with an excellent score of 39 points. We also had Karen Farmer, a visitor all the way from Kapunda in South Australia, playing in the comp and she obviously enjoyed the day with a very good score of 35 points.

The ball sweep Went down to 32 points on a countback and the nearest to the pin winners were Peiter Buning on the 4th, Graham Lee on the 8th, Darrell Bourke on the 13th and Seddon Randall on the 16th.
