Beautiful Oberon golf course

Central West vets golf results for game at Oberon, Feb 13

Hi everyone,

A good field of 59 players challenged their golfing skills against the beautiful Oberon Golf course.

Oberon is one of the most interesting and challenging golf courses west of the Blue Mountains. A course that golfers generally develop a love hate relationship with. The first time you play it you will either decide never to play it again or to comeback as often as possible to take up the challenge to see if you can do better next time. It also has the benefit that if you are not playing your best golf, you can always enjoy the wonderful views.

On to the golf results.

It has been a long time coming but I finally won A grade with 38 points. I had to survive a countback before I could do so because Geoff Arrow also had 38 points. My 20 points to Geoff’s 19 points on the back nine were enough to give me the win. No, I didn’t do the countback.

The winner in B grade was Hugh O’Neill from Oberon with 39 points. A countback was required to decide 2nd place when David Campbell from Oberon and Greg Murray from Bathurst both returned scores of 37 points. David got the judges nod by the nearest of margins.

The ladies’ winner with the best score on the day of any grade was Stella McGrath from Oberon with 40 points.

Next Central West vets game will be at Wentworth on Monday 27th of February
