Central West vets golf report for Blayney, April 29

Hi everyone,

A very big field of 66 Central West vet golfers played a round of golf at the Blayney golf course on Monday, April 29.

We were cordially welcome by Ted Dell and his group of volunteers with a nice morning tea on arrival and a light lunch of gourmet pies at the completion of the game.

The golf course was in very good condition with well grassed fairways that still provided a good run, and the greens were of very good pace. A recipe for good scoring and so was the case, with players needing to score 34 points to get a ball in the ball sweep.

On to results.

Best in A grade was Simon Dundon from Bathurst with an excellent score of 40 points. A three-way countback was required to determine second place when Phil Sturt, David Gates and Manuel Pro all returned scores of 38 points. Phil took out the second-place voucher with 21 points the second time around the course. David and Manuel had to settle for a ball on the ball sweep.

A count back was also required to find the B grade winner when Darryl Tims and Glyn Samuel both carded excellent scores of 42 points. A better back nine by Darryl got him first place with Glyn settling for a very commendable second place.

Helen Kemper from Canowindra was the best of the ladies with and excellent score of 39 points. Another lady with a very good score of 38 points was Kay Kearney who unfortunately will have to settle for a ball on the ball sweep.

The ball sweep went down to 34 points. No nearest to the pin were available.

Next Central West vets’ game will be at Wellington on Monday, May 6.

As usual, text Marie on 0407 458 413 or ring the Club 02 68 452 130 to get a tee time and book a cart if you need one.

Good golfing everyone,

Manuel Pro
