Central West vets golf report for Canowindra, October 9

Hi everyone,

A very good field of 62 Central West vet golfers played a round of vets’ golf at Canowindra golf course on Monday, October 9

The course was in excellent conditions, the fairways had a full cover of grass with a good amount of run and the green were of good pace and true of line. Excellent conditions to score well.

And so, it was for John Fagan from Bathurst who took out first prize in A grade with 37 points. The merit to John’s win was that he was playing with Doug Flannery who had the previous day won the Canowindra Open. Doug had to settle for second place with 36 points.

In B grade the winner was Phil Reed from Wentworth with 36 points. Second was Central West vets President John Cowell with 34 points on a count back from Glyn Samuel.

A three-way countback was required to decide the winner in the Ladies’ comp when Sue Gander, Laurell Gassman and Helen Laffey all returned cards of 35 points. The score checkers named Sue Gander the winner by the smallest of margin.
