Central West Vets golf report for game played at Bathurst May 22

Hi everyone,

An excellent field of 98 Central West Vet golfers were welcome at the Bathurst golf club for a round of vets’ golf.

The day was a typical Bathurst late Autumn Day of heavy early fog but a beautiful day once it lifted. There were some tight lays on the fairways which were helped by preferred lays through the green, but the very slick paced greens made putting an art form. You had to putt well to score well.

And so, it was for Peter Laffey from Wenty who took on first place in A grade with a score of 37 points. A countback was required to decide second place when Darrell Bourke and Graham Tyson both returned scores of 36 points. Graham took out the voucher with an excellent 20 points on the back nine.

Once again, B grade returned the best scores of the day with Eric Denholm from Bathurst taking out first place with an excellent 39 points. Alan Orton from Duntry was second with 38 points.

Robyn Sharp-O’Neill took out first place in the ladies’ comp with 33 points.

The nearest to the pin winners were Alex Smith on the 8th, Arthur Clancy on the 13th and Noel Wright on the 16th. We don’t know who got it on the 4th, the marker has gone missing.

The ball sweep went down to 32 points.
