Results for Wentworth June 19

Darryn Bruce, A grade winner of 1st round of Championships

Central West vets golf report for game played at Wentworth, June 19

Hi everyone,

On a day that was better suited for seating next to the heater watching the final round of the US Open golf tournament on TV , 92 hardy Central West vet golfers put on thermal underwear, loaded up on warm clothing, binnies and gloves and showed up at the Wentworth golf club to play the first round of the 2023 championships.

A warm cup of tea or coffee and some delicious home-made cookies on arrival and a nice lunch after the game, made the trip worthwhile and we soon forgot about cold weather.

On to results

Darryn Bruce from Bathurst, playing his first game of vets this year, returned a card of 37 points to win A grade. The very consistent David Parkes from Wentworth was second with 36 points.

Ryan Critchlow from Wentworth had the best score of the day of any grade to win B grade with 39 points. Jeremy Tadman was given second place on a countback by the judges when he, Garry Giddings, and Phil Sturt all returned scores of 36 points.

A very good field of 14 ladies competed in the ladies comp. The winner on the day was Annie Beaumont of Wentworth with an excellent score of 37 points. Anne Field was a commendable second with 36 points.

The ball sweep went down to 31 points and the winners in the nearest to the pin comp were Fred Gander on the 3rd, Alan Renike on the 5th, Rod Smith on the 6th, Andre Schuster on the 13th and David Ryan on the 17th.

Full results and ball sweep.

Next round of Central West vets will be a return visit to Canowindra on Monday, July 3. The weather will be a lot warmer there.
It will be a walk up start so get there between 8:00 and 9:00am to get a game. You can also call the club on 6344 1342 to book a cart if you need one.

Until then may the Gods of Golf be kind to you.
