David Travis, loss the countback but happy about the way he played

Central West vets golf report for Wellington played June 5.

Hi everyone,

I have a saying that all vets golf days are good days and today was not exception. Today’s weather was perfect for golf and so it was for the 52 Central west vets who went to Wellington to enjoy a game of vets’ golf. The course was very well presented which reflected on some excellent scores in all grades.

As always, we were cordially welcome by Marie and her group of volunteer helpers with a delicious morning tea on arrival and an excellent lunch and desert at the completion of the game.

On to golf results

Normally in a vet’s comp, if you scored 37 points you would have a good chance of winning a voucher but that was not the case today. The best you could do was get a ball in the ball sweep.

The best score of the day was once again in B grade when Jeremy Tadman returned a card of 40 points to win the grade, second was David Manning with 38 points.

The winner in A grade was David Ryan with a score of 39 points. A countback was required to decide second place when Kosta Athanasious, David Travis, and David Phillips returned cards of 38 points. The computer workout the countbacks and declared Kosta was the second-place winner with the two Davids having to settle for a ball.

In the ladies’ comp the winner was Jan Payne with and excellent 37 points.

The ball sweep went down to 31 points. No nearest to the pin were available so we increased the number of balls on the ball sweep.

Next game of Central West vets will be at Wenworth on Monday, Jun 19.
This will also be the first round of the 2023 Vets Championships.

You will need to call the Wentworth golf club proshop on 02 6361 4505 to book a starting time and a golf cart.

Good golfing everyone
