Central West Vets report for game played at Canowindra, May 29

Hi everyone,

Threatening rain didn’t deter 59 Central West vet golfers from taking part in a game of vets’ golf at Canowindra golf course on Monday, May 29.

Once again playing to their handicap at the Canowindra golf course was a bridge too far for most golfers with only a hand full of players playing somewhere near their handicap. Canowindra is a very challenging course where you not only have to hit the ball well to get on the green but you also need to be able read the greens and putt well to score well.

If you were disappointed with you score today, don’t worry, you will get another chance to redeemed yourself when we go back to Canowindra on July 3.

Game results. Countbacks were required in all grades to determine the comp winners.

In A grade it was Graeme Walker who got the nod from the judges when he and Alan Renike returned scores of 32 points.

In B grade the winner was Neil Haley on a countback from Bill Warren both scoring the best scores of the day with 34 points.

In the ladies comp another countback was required when Maureen Lawrence and Helen Constable both returned scores of 29 points. The judges gave Maureen the winning voucher by the nearest of margins.

The ball sweep went down to 23 points. Extra balls were given out because of no nearest to the pins available.

Next Central West game will be at Wellington on Monday, June 5

Until then, may the Gods of golf be kind to you.
