Central West vet’s golf report for game played at Oberon August 21

Hi everyone,

A very good field 52 Central West vet golfers played a game of vet’s golf at Oberon golf club on Monday August 21.

We were cordially welcome with a nice morning before the game and a lunch of beef lasagna, chips and salad after the game which was very welcome by all.

The course was in excellent condition, there was enough grass on the fairways to stop the balls running into the rough and the greens were of good pace and true of line.

On to results.

As it is usually the case with Oberon, local knowledge goes a long way to win the day and so it was today when Oberon President, Barry Lang returned the best score of the day with 39 points to win A grade. Grame Walker from Wentworth was second with 34 points.

Doug Collins, an ex-Oberon member now playing in Bathurst, was the B grade winner with an excellent score of 40 points which was also the best score of any grade. David Campbell from Oberon was the second with 34 points.

The ladies’ winner was Helen Laffey with 28 points.

The ball sweep went down to 29 points and the nearest to the pin winners were Darryn Bruce on the 9th and Peter Laffey on the 17th.
